The markers have to be primed before use, so do not be alarmed if the tip is a whitish color and appears dried up. 2. With the cap on, shake the marker to get the paint moving. Take the cap off and press the nib of the marker on a piece of scrap paper or other scrap surface. The nib will retract into the marker. Do this several times until you see the paint start to appear in the nib. 3. Remember to keep the cap on when you shake them. You do not want paint going where it is not intended to be. 4. If you want to mix the colors, you can do so while the paint is still wet. 5. If you want to lay one color over another, be sure to let the paint dry first.
