This owl necklace was made using an authentic circulated Greek, 1 Drachma nickel brass coin, dated 1973. The owl, the symbol of goddess Athena in ancient Greece, was patron of the crafts, wisdom, and battle, and became the patron goddess of the city of Athens. This coin is considered good luck. The other side of the coin shows a Phoenix rising from its flames surrounded by the inscription meaning 'Greek Democracy' along with the date, 1973. Please note the small size of the coin and read the dimensions along with looking at the picture with the ruler. I cleaned, drilled, domed, and polished this coin and hung it from a brass cable chain secured by a lobster clasp. The coin is made from nickel and brass and has a diameter of 3/4 inch (19mm). It hangs from a 24 inch (60.9cm) brass cable chain secured by a lobster clasp. The chain can be shortened upon request. The coin you receive might not be the exact coin pictured, but will be the same type of coin from my stock.
