The Neo/SCI Plant and Animal Mitosis and Meosis Neo/Slide CD-ROM is computer-based microscope slide images of cell division including onion root tip and whitefish blastodisc mitosis and lily and grasshopper testis meiosis for students in grades 6-12, and includes a tutorial, various image viewing capabilities, and assessments of student comprehension. This software provides realistic microscope imagery. The tutorial provides detailed information about each image. Image viewing capabilities include zooming in or out, panning to view different parts of an image, and full screen viewing mode. Magnification levels vary by slide. The zoom feature digitally enhances base magnification by 300 percent (3x). A calibrated measuring tool allows students to draw a line across the feature to be measured, and then provides the size of the feature. Assessments evaluate student comprehension. The Neo/SCI Plant and Animal Mitosis and Meosis Neo/Slide CD-ROM is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista, and Mac OS 9.2 or OS X, and is available as an individual or network license. An individual license is valid for a single installation; a network license is valid for an unlimited number of installations in a single building. The software comes in a 7.5 x 5.25 inch (H x W) plastic clamshell case. (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right.)
