Product description In 1929, Mexican immigrants, fleeing from persecution of the losing side in the Mexican Revolution, created a Mexican Colony in Brady, Texas. These immigrants filled a need for a labor force in the local ranching and farming community. They built homes in the Colony, raised families, and became solid citizens. The grandson of one of these original immigrants, who was born and raised in the Colony, tells the story in this book of how he overcame his difficult early life as an abused and abandoned child to educate himself and became a successful building contractor. In addition, he attended theology school and became a Methodist Pastor, eventually building his own church in the Mexican Colony. He tells the history of the Colony and describes the lifestyle of early and present-day residents in an attempt to promote a better understanding of the Mexican citizens in our country.
