A small but genuine Moldavite crystal ~8mm, from the Czech Republic.Moldavite is thought to have been formed approximately 15 million years ago after the impact of a giant meteorite near the River Moldau. Moldavite is perhaps the best known and most sought after impact site 'gemstone' - and this term is used loosely as it is actually glass and not a stone. It is often called Bout-illenstein because of its bottle-green glass colour and usually appears as an olive green to dull greenish vitreous substance. Moldavitehas long been worn as an amulet and has a beautiful energy.
