Size: These bags are the same size as the average grocery stores bags but are stronger and don't tear as easily. Instead of ripping they tend to stretch. All bags have a limit though and we do ask that you don't expect them hold an unreasonable amount of weight. Each bag is 20.5 inches from the handle to the bottom, 11.4 inches wide with 3.3 inch by 3.3 inch gussets folded inside. Bags are a 18 microns in thickness. They are designed to be thick enough to get the tough jobs done while thin enough that you can feel good about reusing them for household waste, compost, kitty litter, doggie doo, or just about anything. Certifications: Dirt Bags are approved for Home Compost. We are BPI certified meeting ASTM D6400 and EN13432 requirements, DIN CERTCO certified compostable and Vincotte OK Home Compostable Certified. We are proud that you don't need to send these off to an industrial compost factory to break these bags down. Chemical Properties: Our main materials are about 70-80% PBAT and 20-30% PLA, 100% fully biodegradable and home compostable, they can be biodegraded into water and carbon dioxide in the outdoors after 6-12 months. Our Bioplastic material is much different than competitors who claim to be biodegradable. Many are made of HDPE with an additive called EPI. Most people think HDPE is biodegradable, in fact, HDPE could not be really biodegradable, it just disintegrates because of EPI into small pieces or powder. Moisture Resistant: Dirt Bags have a proprietary formula that withstands moisture for better than a week giving you plenty of time to dispose of the messy stuff before bag begins to break down.
