About Mitutoyo 178-581-02A Surftest SJ-411 Surface

The Mitutoyo Surftest SJ-411 is a portable, handheld, contact surface roughness tester with a 5.7" color, backlit LCD touch screen and thermal printer, has a 1" x-axis measuring span, measures 46 parameters, and provides skidless or skidded measurement. A surf tester, also known as a profilometer, surface roughness tester, roughness gage, or surface finish gage, is a device used in metrology to inspect and measure surface roughness in shop, metalworking, manufacturing and quality control (QC) applications. The Mitutoyo Surftest SJ-411 includes a 5.7" color, backlit LCD touchscreen and a high-speed thermal printer to display results, including graph analysis of bearing area curve (BAC) calculation and amplitude distribution curve (ADC). Its auto-calibration enables accurate measurement of 46 parameters and six profiles, and it stores up to 10 sets of measurement conditions internally. This tester provides skidless or skidded measurement, simple contour analysis for step, step amount, area, and coordinate difference, and a go/no-go parameter judgment when limits are set. It has USB and RS-232C ports for exporting data to a computer for storage and analysis, and can store 500 sets of measurement conditions and 10,000 sets of results with a memory card (sold separately). The gauge displays in a choice of 16 languages: English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Turkish, Swedish, and Dutch. The device complies with applicable Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) standards. It comes with a detector, a stylus, a height adjustment unit, a roughness specimen, an AC adapter, a Phillips screwdriver, printing paper, a touch pen, a strap for the stylus pen, a touch-screen protection sheet, a carrying case, and instructions. Specifications Measuring range X-axis: 25mm/1"; Z1-axis: 800μm / 80μm / 8μm Resolution 0.01μm (800μm range) / 0.001μm (80μm range) / 0.0001μm (8μm range) Parameters Ra, Rq, Rz, Ry, Rp, Rv, Rt, R3z, Rsk, Rku, Rc, RPc, RSm, Rmax, Rz1max, S, HSC, RzJIS, Rppi, RΔa, RΔq, Rlr, Rmr, Rmr(c), Rσc, Rk, Rpk, Rvk, Mr1, Mr2, A1, A2, Vo, λa, λq, Lo, Rpm, tp, Htp, R, Rx, AR, W, AW, Wx, Wte Measured profiles Primary, Roughness, DF, Filtered waviness curve, R-Motif, W-Motif Standards JIS1982, JIS1994, JIS2001, ISO1997, ANSI, VDA Power Rechargeable Ni-MH battery, AC adapter H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. A surface roughness tester, also known as a profilometer, surftest, roughness gage, surface finish gage, or surf roughness tester, is a device used to inspect and measure surface roughness of flats, rounds, sloping planes, and recesses in machined, ground, or polished metal and non-metal surfaces. It is used for metrology in shop, metalworking, manufacturing, and quality control (QC) applications. Surface roughness testing is a type of form measurement that identifies surface profiles such as grooves and recessions, commonly known as peaks and valleys, of a surface. A roughness tester traces a surface profile using a skid-type (contact-type) method with a tracer tip such as a diamond stylus and piezo-electric detection to calculate roughness. Common types of parameters include Ra (roughness average), Rv (maximum profile valley depth), and Rsk (skewness), and assessed profiles. Profiles can have valuations such as cutoff, sampling, traversing, and evaluation-types of lengths. A surface roughness tester can have analog or digital display. A surface roughness tester can be portable, handheld, or desktop-type. Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems.
