This oval plate can be used to serve beautiful platters of food, but especially made to serve Huarache, or Mexico City's most popular dish. The natural terracotta clay color is combined with a translucent green rim, with a flower design in the middle. They are 11.75in long by 9in wide. It is made of extra think clay which makes it very durable. Traditionally Mexican Pottery have been notorious for being produced with leaded glazes, however these plates are certified 100% Lead Free and completely safe for food use. They are dishwasher safe, and can be placed in ovens, both conventional and microwave. Care and use Clay pieces are very tough and durable and can be stacked one on top of each other. Of course they will break if dropped, impacted heavily, or because of extreme temperatures, but otherwise, they last a long and stay looking great. As such the plates must not be submitted to drastic changes in temperature, and care should be taken when handling the plates. The plates are dishwasher safe, making their care very easy, however, it is better to hand wash the plates using mild soap. Never use metal or abrasive cleaners so as to not mar the surface. If there is stuck on food, fill the plates with warm soapy water, allowing them to soak briefly then scrubbing lightly with a sponge or soft cloth. APPEARANCE Our plates are handmade and the ones with designs, hand painted. As with most products which are handmade by artisans around the world, the pieces are all individual and may vary in appearance or may have slight imperfections in the form or finish of the materials. These imperfection do not compromise the aesthetics or functionality of the pieces and are considered normal and to be expected.
