With the economy slow and her family on a budget, she found a need for a cheaper alternative to maternity pants. Together they made the very first Maeband (named after her daughter) on Darla Rae's sewing machine in her back bedroom. The next year was spent perfecting the effectiveness, comfort, and style of the band. Now you can also save money and never buy maternity pants again by temporarily adjusting the size of your favorite pants throughout your pregnancy and beyond. Simply keep your pants unbuttoned, loop the Maeband over and through the two front belt loops, velcro at a comfortable setting, and feel your waistband stretch.
