While many remix compilations merely serve as a way for the record company to extend an artist's 15 minutes in the spotlight, this remix gallery is the real thing. Hard as it might be for an artist to one-up and improve on Coldcut, who are topnotch remixers and producers themselves, at times the remix artists succeed with stunning results on Let Us Replay. "We Stole the Future," intones a somber Jello Biafra on "Every Home Is a Prison," retooled by Shut Up and Dance into a wicked, wild breakbeat anthem while Mixmaster Morris, the erstwhile god of ambient music, turns in a typically sublime version of "Panopticon" that makes you wish for a sunny day.
