Flower arranging dates back hundreds of years in Japan, when the first schools were founded by Buddhist monks. This pair of shears is among the longest of the traditional Japanese flower arranging scissors. Large bonsai plants often have thick, dense growth, making it difficult to reach some areas of the plant. The blade and body of these bonsai shears are long, and medium thick near the hinge, tapering off toward the tip.
