About Kay KDS336 Square Neck Lap Resonator, Sunburst

The Kay KDS336 square-neck resonator guitar and is played by laying flat on your lap. Square neck have a special nut that raises the strings high above the fingerboard and are typically played with a Special slide called a steel (Stevens Steel is the Most popular). You can see in the picture on the right that the neck is very thick and squared off to make a flat and rigid support. Square neck Resonator guitars are most commonly used in bluegrass music. The Kay KDS336 is a superbly crafted "dobro style" resonator guitar. The KDS336 features a bound rosewood fingerboard with Nickel/silver frets and a high gloss sunburst spruce top. The KDR336 has mahogany back and sides and a single 10.5 inch aluminum cone. The single-cone spider-bridge design itself has a W-shape to it and the spider bridge contacts the cone in both the Center and along the edges. By design, the string vibration gets distributed evenly around the cone which is more like an amplifier’s speaker in that the spider cone is concaved so more of the sound is forced out directly instead of into the body. The tonal properties of the KDS336 square neck Resonator give more “twang since Features, *Rosewood Fingerboard, * Nickel-Silver Frets, *10.5 Inch Aluminum Cone, * Mahogany Back and Sides, * Mahogany Neck, * High Gloss Finish. 38” L, 15 3/4”W2 and 4-3/4”D.
