Good to know: A volcano is a geological structure that is created when magma (rock melt) rises to the surface of a planet (e.g. the earth). All of the side effects associated with the rise and discharge of the glowing molten rock are referred to as volcanism. During a volcanic eruption, not only glowing liquid, but also solid or gaseous substances are released. Lava is the name for erupted magma that has leaked to the surface of the earth in liquid form. Lava flowing on the surface of the earth as well as lava solidified out of movement is referred to as a lava flow.
