This kit lets you use your existing Cat 5 or Cat 6 (Cat5) cable to extend the IR signal from your TV using your remote to devices in a different location. You can use our IR Repeater kit as shown in the diagram or you can connect an IR Extender directly from your TV to your cable box over Cat5. TV to Cable Box: To connect an IR Extender directly to your cable box plug the IR Extender that works with your cable box into the Cat5 to 3.5 Adapter using the Male to Male Adapter. Then plug the other end into your Cat5 long distance cable. You may need the short Cat5 cables provided to match the gender of your long distance cable. At the cable box end of the long distance cable, plug the other Adapter onto the cable and then plug the 3.5 mini plug directly into your cable box “IR IN” Jack. This only works if the Extender works with your cable box already. We recommend our 38-56 kHz Extender for this use. IR Repeater at your TV End: Plug the IR Receiver from your Repeater Kit into the Male/Male adapter. Plug the other end of the Male/Male adapter into the 3.5 end of the Cat5 to 3.5 Adapter. Plug the short Cat5 cable into the Adapter. Plug the other end of the short Cat5 cable into your network jack. IR Repeater at the Control Box End: Plug the Cat5 to 3.5 Adapter into the IR Repeater Control Box at one of the IR Receiver connectors. Plug the Cat5 cable into the other end of the Adapter. Plug the opposite end of the Cat5 cable into your network jack. Any emitters attached to the Control Box will receive the signal sent through the IR Receiver in this setup and then be sent to where the emitter buds are attached. You can control your cable box, A/V receiver or any other IR devices. This kit includes: (2) 3’ Cat5 cables, (2) 10" Cat5 to 3.5mm Adapters, (1) 3.5mm Male/Male Adapter.
