Each wick comes with a 6mm high metal tab to keep the candle from burning all the way to the bottom of the jar, which is safe and saves time. Pre-Coated: Yes. All wicks are pre-coated with food grade wax to help with initial lighting of the candle. WARM TIPS: Please trim the wick prior to lighting. If the exposed wick becomes too long as the candle burns, blow out the candles and let them cool (no smoke when I put them out with tweezers, it's a new experience.). Trim the wick again before re-lighting.
