About How To Knit Beautiful Bags: 22 Gorgeous Designs

Review Underground Crafter July 2019 - At first glance, How To Knit Beautiful Bags: 22 Gorgeous Designs by Sian Brown seems to be an above average collection of knit bag patterns, but once you dive deep into it, you’ll realize that it is much more! This book is actually a guide to how to knit bags in general, and provides all the information you’ll need to make not just these 22 projects, but ANY knit bag into something beautiful, functional, and durable. Overall, it’s a wonderful reference guide to making your knit bags beautiful, adding lining, and finishing with lovely details. The patterns are a lot of fun, but this is more than just a pattern book. Although the Technique section in How To Knit Beautiful Bags is substantial, it really focuses on the specific techniques for finishing knit bags. There is no “how to knit” information in this book, so it is best suited to intermediate knitters or adventurous advanced beginners. If you’d love to learn how to knit a bag for yourself or to gift or sell, then I highly recommend How To Knit Beautiful Bags! Product Description Knitted accessories are totally on trend and are on sale everywhere. Bags are particularly popular, and make great projects for knitters of all abilities. Sian Brown has designed 22 beautiful bags in a wide range of sizes and styles, suitable for beginners as well as more experienced knitters. They come in sizes ranging from small and delicate to larger everyday practical bags. The book is divided into sections: simple bags, summer bags, evening bags, cable work bags and colorwork bags. The bags also include lace work and texture stitches, as well as embellishments such as knitted flowers, buttons and bows. You can customize the bags by using your own ideas for embellishments if you wish. Sian's delightfully fresh and appealing designs and her great use of color makes this a very attractive book for knitters of all ages. The book has a simple, practical techniques section, which illustrates how to attach applique items, make decorative stitches such as French knots and lazy daisy stitch, how to do the colorwork, such as Fair Isle and intarsia, and also how to make pompoms and put in zips. Sian also describes how to work ribs, cables, lace and textured stitches, as well as how to insert linings to the bags. Sian has wide experience as a knitwear and accessories designer and her designs are feminine and very attractive. This book will have wide appeal, being attractive to competent beginners and experienced knitters alike.
