DESIGN: Vesu Travel Mugs are inspired by ancient amphora vessels and shaped by the demands of the modern world. They are ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the hand and fit all cup holders. They can be used for coffee, tea or any hot or cold beverage. ALL NATURAL MATERIALS: Vesu mugs are made of ceramic stoneware, full grain leather and natural cork. All of these materials are sustainable and have a very low carbon footprint. Additionally, ceramicware production uses 5 times less embodied energy than steel or plastic. Cork comes from the bark of the Cork Oak tree in Portugal. It is harvested by hand once every 9 years maintaining healthy groves of trees. CLEAN FLAVOR: Glazed ceramic is the cleanest material available. The glaze is essentially glass and is fired to 2,200°F. It resists stains and does not react to acids or other food ingredients so it won't retain flavors or impart a metallic taste. Vesu mugs are certified FDA and Prop 65 food safe. CORK: Vesu has a cork instead of a lid. This is because lids have hidden pockets in the closure mechanism that trap liquid. With no light or air exposure molds can grow quickly. Cork is good up to 300°F so can be thoroughly cleaned in the dishwasher. When not in use simply leave the cork off so it can dry naturally. WORK of ART: The original Vesu mug form was sculpted by the artist/owner in the United States. They are produced by hand in Thailand by a family run business with excellent working conditions. The glazes are brushed on and the leather cuffs are hand sewn. Each mug is unique. You are drinking from a piece of functional art. HEAT and SEAL: While not insulated, Vesus are easy to heat and reheat in the microwave. Also, iced drinks have a frosty feel in Summer. Although not a total seal the cork will prevent splashes. And while ceramic is breakable it is extremely hard so it won't get scratches or fade. And remember, ceramics date back to 24,000 BC.
