About Güde The production of the finest possible handcrafted, forged cutlery is and always has been the driving philosophy of our company. For four generations the Güde family has neither compromised on nor wavered from this credo. Today Güde is proud to continue the centuries old tradition of quality knifemaking for which the town of Solingen is justly world famous. Güde kitchen knives are produced in the center of the German knives world: Solingen. Meanwhile, the fourth generation is at the helm of the Güde-factory. For more than a century (since 1910!) these German quality kitchen knives are made. A lot of work is still done by hand. More than thirty steps in the production process require the eye of one of Güdes master knife makers. It was a conscious decision to choose hand work over mass production. The result is an exclusive kitchen knife that guarantees years of pleasant use in the professional or home kitchen. It's for good reason that Güde won many prizes with his kitchen knives. The Alpha Series knives begin as a single piece of specially alloyed Chrome-Vanadium-Moly cutlery steel. Each knife is hand forged and continues through more than thirty separate steps in the production process before completion. The finely polished grips are made from a robust, long-lasting plastic called Hostaform. Ice hardened stainless steel, hand sharpened and dishwasher safe! The Alpha Series knives are manufactured in accordance with the standards for use in restaurants and the food processing industry and offer the widest model range of any Güde Knife Series.
