About Gurian Three-in-one Fret File, File Handle With 3
Designed by master luthier Michael Gurian. When we're asked to recommend just one fret file, it's gotta be the 3-in-1. It's been popular since Michael Gurian designed it over 20 years ago. The angle in the shaft lifts the handle up away from the guitar, protecting the top. Since it has 3 interchangeable cutters (one narrow, one medium, and one wide) it works for all fret widths, from basses to mandolins. Steel shank, wooden handle. Overall length is 7" (178mm). Each burr is 1-7/8" (47.63mm) long. Works on stainless frets, too!All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.
