In our Italian Sausage marinara meat sauce, we cook the freshly ground sausage into our family's traditional vegetarian marinara recipe that includes fresh tomatoes, olive oil, and seasoned fresh classic Italian vegetables - sautéed onion, garlic, and green and red bell peppers - and seasonings of fresh basil, parsley, oregano, and black pepper. This hearty, filling sauce is delicious to serve with your spaghetti, ravioli, ziti, or any pasta dish. Our home-grown recipes date back to the Depression Era when my great-grandmother Mary grew all of the ingredients in her garden that filled her entire yard, creating beloved sauces for my great-grandfather and their eight children, as well as frequently sharing with the extended family and countless neighbors. She taught her son, my dear Grandpa Pete (whose favorite sauce was this Italian Sausage variety), this knowledge he honored me with learning from him. Our family's sauces were born in Conneaut, Ohio, now have become favorites in my home region of Rochester, NY - and are spreading fast beyond!
