Pear-shaped design, widely used in organic chemistry for separating organic from aquatic products. These funnels are made of Borosilicate glass and have ground glass stoppers and stopcocks. Traditional glass stopcocks are ground precisely to fit into a bore hole at the base of the separator funnel. This joint requires a thin band of lubrication to form tight seal, otherwise it will leak. The standard lubrication is laboratory-grade high vacuum silicon grease. Our glass stopcocks are pre-lubed with a very thin film of this grease, and it should not come into contact with your compound. Glass stopcocks are held into the bore with a rubber O ring and may be easily removed for cleaning and re-lubing as needed.
