The Giro Saga Helmet is a more affordable chapter in the arcing story of modern, ultra-aerodynamic cycling helmets. So much science is focusing on aerodynamics these days, it's no wonder that the humble helmet -- responsible for surprisingly large amounts of drag on your bike -- has been thoroughly revised over the last few seasons to become more slippery. Of course, we can't all afford the seriously fancy stuff, so Giro made fancy stuff that's more affordable for the Average Jane, and here we have the Giro Saga Helmet.We can tell you off the bat that the Saga isn't quite as light, as breathable, or as slippery in the wind as the Synthe, but it's darn close. It utilizes many of the same technologies in both materials and manufacturing as well. It's made with Giro's In-Mold construction, a technique that firmly unifies the helmet's EPS foam liner to a polycarbonate shell, as opposed to simply adhering the two together, creating a lighter, stronger structure that's potentially safer and far more durable. The helmet follows Giro's Streamlined Design language, allowing slick style to permeate the functional aerodynamic shape that dictates the helmet's efficiency. Finally, the Roc Loc 5 retention system dials in the proper fit to your head, comfortably and easily, while still being up to 40% lighter than competing systems.
