Crafted by hand and requiring more than 45 different operations for its completion, this 10-inch chef's knife from the Friedr. Dick 1778 Jubilee Series is a unique tool that both professional and home-based chefs will treasure for a lifetime of use. It's based on a secret formula that goes protected manufacturing process back to Paul Friedrich Dick, one of the founders of Friedr. Dick Knives, as well as a that involves manual work. The handle is made of selected plum tree wood, and the knife comes with a wooden knife sheath that's lined with goatskin. The core of the 1778 Jubilee Series knife holds the secret of their quality--a thin layer of high-alloy Double X VG 12 carbon steel--which contains ingredients like cobalt, manganese and molybdenum. This results in the knife possessing an elastic cutting core unit that's coupled with an extreme degree of hardness--resulting in an incomparably fine and even cutting as well as considerably lengthening the service life of the cutting edge. As carbon steel is liable to corrosion and is not neutral in terms of taste, the core of the knife is sandwiched in between layers of high-alloy steel. Manufactured in Germany, every Friedr. Dick finished knife is sharpened and honed by hand--just as it's been done since the company's founding in 1778 by Johann Friedrich Dick--and each knife is given the unmistakable Friedr. Dick etching. Hand wash using a mild dishwashing soap; rinse with water and dry thoroughly with a towel. Backed by a lifetime warranty.
