About Fowler 54-870-004-0 Full Warranty Xtra-Value II

The Fowler 54-870-004-0 digital outside micrometer set has a flat anvil/spindle, 3-4”/75-100MM measuring range, an LCD with an inch/metric switchable resolution, and is designed for general purpose measuring. A switchable resolution of 0.00005" or 0.001mm, and an accuracy of 0.0002"/0.005mm, provides precise readings and accurate measurements. Carbide measuring faces provide long life and wear resistance. A ratchet thimble applies consistent force for repeatability between users. This product has 1 year warranty offered by Fowler precision. If you experience any problem contact Fowler directly for warranty claims. The micrometer can be set to take absolute or incremental measurements. Absolute measurements provide the total dimension of the work piece. Incremental measurements provide a reading that shows the difference between a set standard and work piece being measured. This Type of reading is often used to determine If a work piece falls within tolerance levels. The micrometer requires a CR2032 battery (included), and includes a fitted case. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the Length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. Fowler, an American company, manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.
