It is becoming increasingly clear that the post war parallel of the Glenn Miller story has been the rise of Ray Anthony. Not since Glenn has there been a dance band lead-er with Ray's organisational skill and iron determination to succeed. Like Glenn, Ray believes a band has to do more than just play music if it is to top the field, an like Glenn, Ray's basic operating policy is that running a dance band is a business and "When you work, you've got to work". When Ray began his second season on June 28th as star of the Chesterfield Summer television series on CBS, replacing Perry Como for eight week, the coveted spot was just another indication of how well that basic operating policy has functioned. Following the great success of Jasmine's earlier Ray Anthony CD release, 'Marilyn & Other Great Hits' (JASCD345), they now present another compilation of 26 great tracks from the trumpet maestro. This includes more hits from the 1950s, and features the vocal talents of Marcie Miller, Tommy Mercer and The Skyliners. With the 'Swing' revival in 'full swing', this CD is bound to attract sales across a wide spectrum.
