This finely hand-painted resin statuette depicts the original Our Lady of Loreto sculpture with a large crown and a richly decorated tunicle, along with Baby Jesus in her arms. The famous Black Madonna – originally made so dark by the fumes of candles and oil lamps – got completely destroyed by a fire and its replica can nowadays be seen in the "Basilica della Santa Casa" in Loreto, close to the city of Ancona (Italy). It is carved from Cedar of Lebanon wood coming from the Vatican Gardens. Similarly to the big size model, the Lady wears a precious white robe with simple lines, but rich in black and gold-coloured decorations, which captures the viewer's attention by standing out against the white background. This 12 cm statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Loreto comes with a paper bookmark whose front side depicts the image of the statuette, while the back boasts a prayer in Italian, English, Spanish and French. The figurine is delivered in a durable and refined gift box made of smooth, light brown cardboard. Thanks to its plastic window, you can easily see the figure without having to open the package. The same prayer you can find on the bookmark is printed on the front of the box, while on the other sides you can read some notes about the history of the "Virgo Lauretana" (patron saint of aviators and the Italian Air Force), along with the indication of the day of her celebration (10th December). The text is in the four overmentioned languages. The attention to detail, the hand-painting and the finishes, as well as the elegance of the box, make this Our Lady of Loreto statue an appreciated gift idea. Weight: 72 g (137 g with box).
