About Dryerbox Model 350 DB-350 | New Construction 2x4

Why the need for a Dryerbox? In the past, homeowners had to put up with the inefficient venting of their dryer appliance exhaust due to numerous friction causing bends or kinks in the flex transition hose that connects the dryer to the wall exhaust pipe. Lint build-up and a fire hazard are the unwelcome bi-products of these annoying bends. In order to accommodate these flow restrictive bends, the dryer appliance had to be located five to six inches away from the wall, taking away valuable living space. The Dryerbox solves these issues and provides many benefits to the builder, the contractor and the homeowner. Dryerbox receptacles can work in new construction or existing construction as a retrofit. Likewise, there are versions that accommodate new-construction (studs with no drywall yet) and Retro-Fit versions (drywall on the studs). Please study the images and specifications carefully in making your decision, noting the location of the mounting flange and the direction of exhaust airflow. The Model 350 favors an upward exhaust direction in new construction and is designed to accommodate installations that require a shallower stud bay or additional space behind the Dryerbox. This model's depth from the nailing flange to the rear is 3 1/2" and will fit in a 2 X 4 stud bay. It is important to note that the seamed Snaplock pipe becomes "ovalized" when drywall is secured to the studs. To handle this compressed stated, model 350s feature an oval port. This makes attaching transition hose a little more challenging but represents the compromise in supporting the unusual depth circumstances. For standard upward new construction installations, (2 X 6 studs or 2 X 4 studs with 1" furring strips) the Model 480 or Model 425 are recommended providing more space and a round port opening.
