CHRISTIAN PROMMER's collection of jazz covers of some of dance music's most influential tracks is wowing people everywhere! 'Drum Lesson Volume 1' features tracks originally performed by DAFT PUNK, JOSH WINK, KRAFTWERK, ISOLEE, MASTERS AT WORK, MR FINGERS, RHYTHIM IS RYTHIM (aka DERRICK MAY) & many more. The album's conception began with the idea to record an acoustic version of the Derrick May classic "Strings of Life" to warm up for the production of his first solo album. Thought of as a "oneoff" novelty, it sat on the studio shelf for a long time until ALEX BARCK of the JAZZANOVA crew came by, listened and realised it was a gem. DJs and music fans from all sides of the spectrum got into this track and gave it acclaim, with Derrick May also giving Prommer his thumbs up. The idea of rerecording dance classics did not leave Prommer's head while he was preparing his debut album for SONAR KOLLEKTIV. Feeling at home in the world between Jazz and Detroit Techno he decided to do an album project that blended the two genres. The resulting album reinterprets the dance classics in a jazzy fashion.
