This Zig Zag Territoires four-disc collection features Amandine Beyer and Gli Incogniti interpretations of select concerti by two of the finest Italian Baroque-era masters, Antonio Vivaldi & Arcangelo Corelli. Ms. Beyer regularly demonstrates exceptional talent as both violinist and bandleader, especially so in works of this kind the instrumental concerti of the late 17th early 18th c. - in which a most certain and much evident Italianate vocal quality can be immediately discerned. Among the Vivaldi concertos on offer here is the composers most popular Four Seasons and two world premieres. The Corelli concerti heard here are dominated by his Complete Concerti Grossi op. VI. Founded by Amandine Beyer in 2006, Gli Incogniti takes its name from the Venetian 'Accademia degli incogniti', and attempts also to adopt the spirit of the name it bears by cultivating a taste for 'the unknown' in all its forms: experimentation with sonorities, seeking out new repertoire, rediscovery of the 'classics', etc.
