This compression spring is made of stainless steel 316 wire and has an outside diameter (OD) of 0.48 inch and a wire size of 0.063 inch. This stainless steel 316 wire spring meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) A313 (for chemical and physical only) spring wire specification. It has a slightly magnetic plain wire finish for excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation that is passivated per ASTM A967. The spring ends are closed and ground flat (squared) for efficient transfer of force, and a reduced risk of tangling. This spring has a load capacity of 14.47 pounds and a maximum operating temperature of 570 degrees F (300 degrees C). It has a slightly magnetic plain wire finish for excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation that is passivated per ASTM A967. Compression springs are open-coil helical springs that are used to save space and absorb shock in a variety of applications. They absorb the energy of a force acting upon them by becoming shorter, store that energy while compacted, and expand as they release the energy. These springs are either placed over a rod, or fitted inside a hole, and are found in a wide variety of applications ranging from automotive engines and large stamping presses to major appliances and lawn mowers, medical devices, cell phones, electronics, and sensitive instrumentation devices.
