CollectA's detailed replica of the prehistoric Irritator is lifelike, down to the scales on its hide and its long, conical teeth. The story of the dinosaur's name is an interesting one. The first skull specimen, which may have originated in Brazil, had been artificially elongated by fossil poachers. Paleontologists who restored the skull to its more accurate form were ''irritated,'' hence the name. The Irritator may have resembled another South American dinosaur, the Spinosaurus. It probably lived in the Middle Cretaceous Period, 100 million years ago and could have reached 25 feet in length. The shape of its snout indicates that it probably preyed on fish. This beautifully sculpted, collectible figure from our Prehistoric Life Collection measures 6.1''L x 2.4''H.
