The PAK 40 was a German 75 mm anti-tank gun. The gun was first constructed in 1939. It was equipped by the army at the end of 1941 and was successfully used until the end of the war. It became the main department and constituted the majority of German anti-tank artillery. PAK 40 was also equipped in other Axis countries. The intercepted copies were also armed with the Red Army. Around 23, 000 guns were produced. An additional 6, 000 were used to arm German tank destroyers. The PAK 40 was an extremely successful in battle. The gun was able to destroy almost every Allied tank even at the end of the war. The only exceptions were the heavily armored Soviet IS-2 tanks and the American M26 Pershing.
