Push the plunger down to expose the hole. Insert cord in hole. Leave up on plunger. The spring inside the barrel will push up on the plunger and hold tension on the cord. Cord locks don't actually 'lock'. Cord locks just hold tension and cord will slip if enough pressure. Commonly used for drawstring packs and many other applications. Two strands of 550 paracord will fit.
