excellent visual observing or astroimaging setup, the CGX 1100 combines our best German equatorial mount in its weight class with our venerable 11” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube. This versatile setup will grow with you and support you in the hobbies of visual observing and astroimaging for years to come. The optical tube features StarBright XLT coatings for crisp, detailed views of even faint, deep sky objects. Choose to use this tube at its native f/10 focal ratio, f/6.3 with the optional Reducer-Corrector, or f/2 with a third-party lens assembly. Celestron’s design team in Torrance, CA, gathered years of customer feedback while engineering the CGX mount. Key design upgrades compared to our prior equatorial mount include: a lower profile EQ head, which provides a more compact and therefore more stable setup; a better drive system; a remote operation-friendly design with home and limit optical sensors; easier polar alignment adjustments; and better cable management. We’ve also made mechanical and ergonomic improvements throughout to make the mount sturdier, easier to use, and easier to transport. This mount includes the NexStar+ hand control with a database of 40,000+ celestial objects and the simple All-Star Polar Alignment procedure. You’ll also get a free download of Celestron’s CPWI telescope control software, which allows you to control the telescope remotely and supports advanced mount modelling for the most accurate telescope alignment possible. CGX works almost anywhere in the world thanks to its 3° to 65° latitude range.
