In the year 2654, crime rates are at an all-time low. Overpopulation in the United States is efficiently handled with no difficulty. In fact, one could say that America has finally obtained the "perfect" society. However, these great advances have also brought horrible consequences. Color and emotion have been drained from the universe. Ideas such as creativity and individuality are insignificant concepts of the past. Not a single person had ever once attempted to counteract these restrictions, leaving one nineteen-year old girl, Alaina Jones, to feel like an outsider in her own home. Desperate to find her place amongst the destruction, she decides to break free. But in a world where not one person does more than what is expected of them, how can a single girl discover what it is that makes a human any different from an animal? Perhaps success is simply not in her story; leaving failure to be her inevitable fate.
