N-Acetyl L-Cysteine is a type of amino acid which is sulfur based and is needed in order for the synthesis of glutathione to take place. Since glutathione is a powerful antioxidant, this makes the presence of N-Acetyl L-cysteine all the more crucial as it indirectly protects against the attacks by harmful free radicals. N-acetyl L-cysteine (NAC) is a more bioavailable form of the original L-Cysteine, another kind of sulfur based amino acid type.
