The Brown & Sharpe 599-792-12 Edge Finder Single is made from fully hardened and precision ground steel for durability and usability. It features a 10-mm shank and 10-mm head diameter. It can locate round or flat work to within .0005” accuracy, and is rated up to 1,000 RPM. Single-end usability allows use on one end of the instrument. Place in a standard 1/2” diameter collet or chuck to use, and as it rotates and approaches the work edge, the head moves sideways approximately 1/32”. The center of the finder is exactly half the head diameter away from the work. Edge finders are used to accurately locate the edge of rotating work surfaces up to 1,000 RPM. The rotating instrument has a machine spindle that must come into contact with the spinning work surface for the tool to work. Brown & Sharpe was founded in 1833, had a major part in setting industrial standards in the United States, and has given its name to several standards, including a tool spindle taper, a worm threadform, and others. Brown & Sharpe was acquired by Hexagon Metrology in 2001, and has since focused on precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The Brown & Sharpe line of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical measuring systems, benchtop measuring machines, and precision hand tools offer consistent, high-quality design, construction, and performance. Brown & Sharpe has manufacturing facilities in North America, Switzerland, and China.
