Blue's Alphabet Book is an early childhood game all the way, teaching small--and we stress small--children how to recognize their ABCs and spell basic words. It's done by way of six very simple games that shouldn't put too much strain on little brains. Most of the games stress simple recognition of letters, such as a xylophone game, where the computer plays a sequence of lettered keys, which kids must duplicate. There's also a leaf game, where a basket is marked with a letter, which kids must use to catch a leaf with that same letter on it. Other games teach a bit more, such as a soup game that helps kids to spell small words, and a memory game that has them trying to remember which bubbles contain which letters. Blue's Alphabet Book contains some fun music and a small amount of voice acting, but the youngest children will need a parent to help them name the letters and sound out the words they spell. In other words, little ones should be able to play this title alone, but will absorb more with the help of an older onlooker. --Robb Guido Pros: Colorful graphics Games will help kids come to recognize their ABCs Cons: Few voice samples
