It was initially produced in order to protect the heads of coachmen and gamekeepers from low-hanging branches as they rode by. However, as time passed the derby became more fashionable in Europe and America. Today, as derby's fashion walks in many circles, from classic, formal evening wear to a more contemporary, stingy style. This traditional derby has a 16 ligne grosgrain band and has grosgrain bound brim edges for a more finished look. The crown sits at 4" tall and the brim width is 2". This bowler comes with a full liner for added comfort and has a traditional hardened felt look to even impress the most dapper of folk!
