This B&K Precision 9120A series single-output, programmable linear DC power supply unit provides a constant source of DC voltage and current for powering and testing electronic devices in research and development, production, and laboratory applications. The power supply unit (PSU) has one variable output that provides adjustable DC voltage and current. A built-in digital voltage and milliohm meter measures output voltage or 4-wire resistance. The PSU's internal memory can store up to 50 operating states for future recall. The PSU can be connected to a computer using an RS-232-to-TTL or USB-to-TTL serial converter cable (both included), and it can be controlled remotely with Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI). Software is included for testing applications and for emulating the PSU's front-panel controls. A list mode lets the operator store a command sequence in the PSU's internal memory for future execution. A 4-pin connector on the rear of the unit accepts digital input/output (I/O), discrete fault indicator/remote inhibit (DFI/RI), and external triggers input and output. The discrete fault indicator/remote inhibit (DFI/RI) function permits simultaneous control of multiple power supplies. A lock feature disables the front-panel keypad to help prevent accidental input. The unit's vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) is readable in low light. The PSU can sit on a workbench or be mounted in a rack (mounting hardware sold separately). A power cord with a three-prong plug is included for connecting the PSU to a grounded outlet, and the PSU has 4mm sheathed banana jacks for connecting devices with sheathed or shrouded banana plugs. The PSU has a removable handle for carrying or for propping up the meter during use. A built-in cooling fan helps prevent overheating, and a 0.5-amp fuse turns off the unit in case of overload, helping to prevent damage to the PSU and the device under test.
