About Aquatic Arts 5 Live Crystal Red Shrimp | Freshwater

Crystal Red Shrimp (Caridina cantonensis) are regarded far and wide as one of the most beautiful dwarf shrimp available. Their striking red and white coloration makes them stand out magnificently against any aquarium backgrounds, substrate, or decorations. Until recently, these colorful shrimp have been very rare, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to offer them to our customers! This set includes A-S grade shrimp, meaning the intense coloration covers most or all of the body. Higher grades of Crystal Red Shrimp actually have more white coverage and less red coverage, and can be very difficult to keep as they are much more sensitive than these. Because of this, A-S grade Crystal Red Shrimp are the best starting point for beginners to keeping this unique type of dwarf shrimp. We also have the same type of shrimp in black and white, called Crystal Black Shrimp. They will breed with these and produce either black/white or red/white offspring only. Both Crystal Red and Crystal Black Shrimp are a bit more difficult to raise than other dwarf shrimp species, so we recommend sticking VERY closely to the recommended tank parameters. All dwarf shrimp prefer to live in tanks with fresh aquatic plants (such as java moss, green cabomba, etc.) or decorations that provide cover, such as driftwood or a branch, a hut or cave, a wooden stump, or PVC tubing that provides a tunnel in which to play. These are compatible with other shrimp, most snails, small size fish that are not aggressive, and some crabs, such as Micro Thai Crabs (Limnopilos naiyanetri), aka False Spider Crabs.
