Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentate), also known as Yamato Shrimp, are one of the mostpopular and hardy freshwater aquarium species. They grow about twice as large as dwarfshrimp, attaining a maximum size of over two inches, and they typically live a much longerlifespan! They are native to Southeast Asia, including Japan, Taiwan, and Fiji. Their bodies areclear with an aqua blue tint, and are covered in small, dark red dots. Unlike most dwarf shrimpspecies, Amano Shrimp will only reproduce in brackish water, so they will almost certainlynever breed in a home aquarium.Like most shrimp, Amano Shrimp live in large colonies and spend most of their time foraging forfood. Need algae control in your aquarium? These active yet peaceful aquarium pets arepossibly the most voracious aquarium algae eaters you’ ll find! A colony of them will ofteneradicate even the most persistent algae growth on plants and dé cor, sometimes even cleaningaquarium glass. The bulk of their diet is biofilm, algae, and decaying plant matter, so they willwork hard to clean up the waste in any aquarium. However, they do not bother live plants. In aless mature aquarium, they can be fed high quality flake and mini pellet dry foods with highalgae/spirulina/plant content.Amano Shrimp are compatible with smaller, peaceful fish, including the following: Danios, Rasboras, Guppies, Endlers, Cherry Barbs, and dwarf Tetras. They’ re also compatible with mosttypes of snail, like Nerites and Mystery Snails. Other dwarf shrimp species are also compatible, such as Orange Sakura Shrimp, Green Jade Shrimp, and Blue Diamond Shrimp.CARE GUIDELINES:- Temperature: 64° - 84° F (17.8° - 28.8° C)- pH: 6.5 - 7.5- KH: 0 - 10 dKH- Minimum tank size: 2 gallons- Average adult size: 1 - 2+ inches (2.5 - 5+ cm)- Average purchase size: 1/2 - 1 inch (1.3 - 2.5 cm)- WARNING: Copper is toxic to invertebrates.
