The Brazos Dwarf Crayfish is a miniature freshwater crayfish with a spunky personality! Dwarf crayfish are also known as mini lobsters, although true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. This crayfish's natural habitat is bodies of water in North America. They are similar to the Orange CPO Crayfish in appearance and behavior, but their colors are earth tones instead of the bright orange color that the CPOs display. Most Brazos Dwarf Crayfish are brown in color, and some feature some tan and beige colors in marble patterns along the body. Dwarf crayfish are an excellent choice for the nano aquarium or office tank atop a desk. They are larger than dwarf shrimp (they can grow up to 1.6 inches long) and tend to live much longer, but are still small enough to comfortably live in a tank as small as 5 gallons. Though this crayfish is small enough not to be a threat to most other tank inhabitants, they have on occasion gone after dwarf shrimp (e.g. Crystal Black Shrimp or Rili Shrimp), so we cannot guarantee safety for dwarf shrimp if kept in the same tank. Most cichlids are aggressive toward crayfish, and any bottom feeder should also be avoided. All of our B-Grade crayfish are simply specimens that are missing legs or claws that we offer at an extra cheap discounted price. Loss of limbs is not permanent and happens very commonly with crustaceans. They are completely healthy, of great quality, and will completely regenerate lost appendages within 1 to 2 molts (about 2 to 3 months). They generally can be kept with some fast moving fish, such as Sword Tails, Endlers, Neon Tetras, Cardinal Tetras, and Discus (with caution).
