About Ankle Guardian
The Ankle Guardian (AG) is an effective discreet and comfortable innovative ankle off-loading device that prevents and treats pressure ulcers of the ankle. Currently there are no similar devices on the market. The device is an elastic ankle sleeve with a removable custom "U" shaped foam cushion located over the malleolus. The cushion sits in an external pocket on the ankle sleeve. The unique shape of the foam cushion is designed to allow lymphatic and edema drainage in the physiologic direction toward the heart, minimize edge effect and offload the ankle bone (malleolus). The sleeve is comfortable, is not a compression device and is easily donned. It allows complete freedom for ambulation and mobility in bed. The foam can be removed and washed, as can the sleeve. The device is made from anti-microbial and moisture wicking fabric and extremely comfortable due to its stretchability. It can be worn over compression garments. The device can be worn with most shoes and is nearly invisible when worn under pants.
