With its rich paintings, readers are transported through many colorful scenes, places and seasons to see how angels work behind the scenes, weaving their graces throughout the world.Through Angels, readers can experience a world of gentle wonder, beauty, and comfort that makes this a perfect bedtime story. “Angels, angels, always near, protecting you, my special dear!” Review "Angels is a delectable non-denominational story of angels who shelter, help, protect and care for children everywhere in the world. Filled with embroidered, painted detailed, devotion -laden images of kind seasonal angels, healing angels, and protecting, faith- nurturing angels, the poem story gently seeps into a child's awareness as dreams begin to become real. "Angels" represents angels in winged human forms of different origins and skin colors for ethnic inclusiveness. The effect of "Angels" is to soothe, charm, prolong, and protect with thoughts of gentle blessing..." Midwest Book Review This simple book is aimed at family bedtime, with its minimal, incantatory text ("Angels, angels, fill the air,/ coming down from way up there") and pastel palette. Since angels are nondenominational and figure in a multitude of religions, the book offers an easy introduction to a supernatural concept without being religiously prescriptive. Angels can be anodyne, and the book leans in that direction, but it is also soothing and spiritually generous. Ages 2-up.
