1972 FM BROADCAST RECORDINGS FROM A MID-PERIOD POCO Formed in 1968 by Richie Furay, Jim Messina and Rusty Young, following the demise of Buffalo Springfield, Poco was part of the first wave of the West Coast country rock groups. The title of their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, was a reference to the break-up of Springfield, but was a poor seller, as was their sophomore, self-titled record. Their third however, released following the departure of Messina, From The Inside - produced by soul legend Steve Cropper - fared marginally better, and in its wake Poco went out on the road, performing in both the US and, by early 1972, across Europe. On 13th February 72 they performed at Amsterdam s Concertgebouw, where they put on a dynamic show which was broadcast across continental European FM radio, and synched too back in the US on a number of stations. A couple of weeks before the Netherlands show, they performed on the BBC s Old Grey Whistle Test, for which they played two tracks, transmitted on February 1st 72. Both these performances are now included on this sterling CD, which features these performances on disc for the first time. TRACKLIST: 1. What If I Should Say I Love You 4:47 2. Hoe Down 2:36 3.
