About AFe Power 46-20121-1 BladeRunner Intercooler
This Blade Runner Intercooler represents the next generation of intercoolers. Designed specifically for the Ford F-150 Ecoboost 3.5L (tt), this Blade Runner intercooler utilizes a 3" bar and plate core design that is larger than stock and outflows the OE tube and fin core design by up to 20%! The 3/16" Tig-Welded end tanks offer superior strength, and durability while incorporating aFe multi-directional vane technology. aFe has also addressed the OE intercooler water condensation issue by adding a CNC machined vent tube, which uses a solid NPT plug for periodic draining. For those who wish for more automatic draining, we have also included is a 1/8" NPT breather vent fitting. Flowing 20% better than the factory unit, the Blade Runner Intercooler performed above 95% efficiency, compared to the 88% efficiency of the factory intercooler. While tested on the field at an ambient temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the Blade Runner cooled outlet flow temperature to 77 degrees. Under the same conditions, the factory unit cooled outlet flow temperature to 91 degrees. The unique, Blade Runner end tanks are constructed out of 3/16'' TIG-Welded aluminum plates that incorporate four multi-directional vanes throughout the intercooler. The Blade Runner MDV technology is used to direct hot airflow through the entire intercooler core allowing for increased air flow and cooling capacity. The use of the bar and plate core design allows for greater airflow and increased heat dissipation over the much smaller tube and fin design used by stock vehicles. The intercooler includes a 1/8" NPT brass breather vent, which allows condensation to drain from the intercooler. The port can also be plugged and drained periodically using the included 1/8" NPT plug. This Blade Runner Intercooler uses dual 2.25" billet aluminum inlets and a 3" outlet for superior strength and durability. Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway.
