Avatar Premium MQS Manuka Honey is graded for purity and antibacterial efficacy according to the Manuka Quality Standard (MQS). The honey's MQS rating is verified by independent laboratory testing and rated according to the honey's active ingredient, Methylglyoxal, (an antiseptic compound derived from NZ Manuka flower nectar) and its Manuka flower pollen concentrations. (Always select a Manuka honey that is graded on both Methylglyoxal (MGO) AND Manuka pollen concentration.). The MQS number is a very close approximation to the honeys Non-Peroxide Activity (NPA). We don't rate our honey on Total Activity or antibacterial efficacy due to the presence of hydrogen peroxide as we believe this is misleading and not a true indication of the honeys Manuka purity. All Avatar MQS rated Manuka honey is absolutely delicious and its Manuka purity and antibacterial potency increases with its MQS rating. A higher rating means a higher Manuka purity and stronger flavour. Consumed for its health giving properties NZ Manuka has many applications ranging from general well-being and immunity support, aiding in the treatment of ulcers, colds/flu, digestive health and is commonly found in high end cosmetics, skin treatments and used in burn and wound care applications for humans and animals (only use a honey that has been specifically manufactured for wound/burn treatment).
