About Acting Scenes And Monologues For Young

Product Description October 2021--revised and updated with new scenes added! Cool new original monologues and scenes for teens 13 to 17 years old. Whether a teen needs a solo piece, or a scene to perform with another actor, this book offers age-appropriate scenes with humor, drama, and crisp dialogue. The material ranges from high drama to comedy, mostly set in present day with a couple of period pieces thrown in to show an actor's range. Teen actors searching for relevant material for their acting classes and auditions will be able to sink their teeth into these scenes and monologues and show their depth and skill. "Notes From The Coach" are hints and suggestions throughout the book designed to help the actor interpret the material. Famous actor quotes and insights are also sprinkled throughout the book. From the Author This book is the teen version in the series of Acting Scenes and Monologues, and is geared to young teens who want to practice their acting and their audition techniques.   I have been an actor in Los Angeles since the 80's, directed casting sessions for years (we all had a side job) and have raised two kids in the business.  (My daughter went to LA County High School for the Arts, and is now a film student at UCLA;  my teenage son is an actor in film, television, and cartoons).  My wife is also an actress; we met in an audition waiting room.   And we rehearse, just as we would practice if we were trying to be a concert violinist or a professional baseball player.   We often use scenes from this book in our acting classes because they are the kinds of scenes they get from their agents for an audition.   Our actors not only act, but react and try to find some characteristic that they can make their own...whether it's a sound, a bending of a line of dialogue, a physical movement...something that will not only help the character but that will be different from anyone else coming in to that audition.   And most importantly, to keep it real and believable.  I've heard directors say "I don't want an ' actor kid'; I want a real kid....who can act."  Let's practice, and have fun doing it.   About the Author Bo Kane has been a working actor for over 25 years, and an on-camera acting instructor for kids for 12 years. His television roles include guest parts on Just Roll With It, Tacoma FD, Jane The Virgin, NCIS, The Orville, How To Get Away With Murder, Colony, Criminal Minds, Castle, Workaholics, CSI: Miami, 90210, Dexter, and many many others. Films include What's Love Got To Do With It, The Ringer, Camouflage, Child's Play, and again--many others. His book "Acting Monologues and Scenes For Kids!", for ages 6 through 13, is a combination of his first two volumes that have sold thousands and now are put together---more bang for the buck!   Bo and his wife have two kids: their son is a working actor in film and television and their daughter is studying film production at UCLA and is a regular on Teens React. Why the picture on horseback on the back of the book? Bo coached Special Olympics Equestrian for 16 years.
