Biographies and memoirs can take many forms. For this book I have chosen the form of short, short stories, primarily events from my eight decades of planet earth living. These stories, because of their brevity, are comfortably read before nodding off to sleep. Their widely varying content reflects my diverse life's experiences. My selection of stories was designed to suit the intellectual choices and curiosities of most readers. Some stories are highly unusual, others gripping and some even controversial. All are interesting. Each chapter deals with a specific theme and is accordingly titled. Thus, "Latin America" speaks of adventures during my long residence and travel throughout most of those nations south of the border. The chapter on "Journalism" deals with a number of the fascinating if exciting activities of my father, Fred J. Walker, a long-time Hearst editor. He constitutes the primary source of my writing inspiration. So curl up in a comfortable chair, sip on your favorite drink, and enjoy!
